Since my housecleaner quit, I've made some uncomfortable discoveries. My vacuum cleaner sucks pretty well, but it it's like pushing a Mack truck and the plugging and unplugging to get to the whole place is a pain in the ass. And fighting extension cords is about as much fun.

And both bathrooms plus the kitchen all have non-carpeted floors. I pulled out the broom yesterday to give them a but of a swipe and GROSS! My broom is disgusting! It's filthy and gapped and useless and lord knows how long it has been like that.

So, as soon as it opens this morning, I'm off to Sears. I'm shooting for one of those cordless vacuum sticks and a new broom. There's a Home Depot next to Sears and both are about a mile from here. That's all I'm good for. If I can't find what I need there, it will be an online purchase. Oddly, these are not items for which I need the instant gratification of in-store purchases.

Then there's the Yankees/Red Sox game on ESPN. I usually don't watch baseball other than Mariners but these two teams are ones we play often and this is a special game for them and the Mariners aren't playing today.

Remember the eye doctor telling me to pop out the lens of my dimestore glasses so I can wear them with the contact lens for when I really need to see small stuff? Well, have any of you ever tried to pop out the lens of a $10 pair of plastic glasses? I'm telling you, it ain't easy. I finally got two pair done one for here and one for the office. And, I'll be darned if it isn't a great solution.

The doctor also told me I should always wear sun glasses outside - sun or no. I never wear sun glasses although I have several pair. I put one of them near the house keys. Let's see if I can remember to wear them. She said old age makes my eyes dry and dirt and stuff that get blown into them makes it worse and sun glasses will keep stuff from getting into them. Makes sense to me. She also suggested that I put a warm compress on them for 5 minutes twice a day. That's not going to happen. I don't have that kind of patience.

Time to get to work... Later...

There is one way to handle the warm compress trick that I can think of. Get a bowl or somesuch and put it by your bed. At night, when you go to bed, put the warm compres on your eyes - and after a bit, drop it into the bowl. That won't be twice a day, but surely even once a day is better than not at all?

I admit it...I am co-dependent on sunglasses. I even wear them when it's raining. There...I feel better.

where the lens fell out because the frame broke. We've tried gluing but it won't hold. And since I never throw anything away, I still have them. Somewhere at home.

I wonder if it is the correct eye for you. Or does it matter?
