I was reading the blog of a woman I've followed for a long time this morning. I don't know her but she's interesting and takes pretty pictures and has an interesting journal-type blog. She happens to do vendor work for Microsoft (like I do) but starting next week has a new job somewhere else. Today, at the end of her entry said noted that she would miss many things about being a Microsoft vendor like free rides on all transit.
What??!!
When I first went to work as a vendor at Microsoft (for a different employer than I have now), I worked on campus and Microsoft gave every one, employees, vendors and temporary workers, bus passes. It was great. Then one year, the temporary workers and vendors go cut from the program. Oh well. I never heard anything different but apparently somewhere along the line in the past 5 years, they've let us back in. I filled out the form today and all I have to do now is go get a special card from any receptionist! Holy great scam, batman!
There are some Microsoft offices about 4 blocks from here in the Smith Tower but I'm not even sure they have a receptionist. If they do, great. If not, I think tomorrow, assuming light work load, I'll go hop on a bus and ride out to Redmond to pick up a card. I just put $20 on my own transit card. Cudda saved that had I only known...

Time for knitting and junk TV. Travis and Betty are fast asleep in their kitty beds. Matthew and Barbara gave them tons of attention today and they are exhausted!
