What cameras do I have?
Feb. 27th, 2010 07:49 amA couple of folks have asked about my cameras.
The one I just got - the one that shows me on my TV, what's happening on the street under my terrace - is this set up from x-10 (their website is, indeed, beyond horrible but it must work for them cause it's been that way for years).
The webcams - one turned on the kitchen and one turned on my work/knit/tv-watching chair - are both Hue cameras. I got the pair on Woot several years ago. I think they were $20 for the pair.
I use Yawcam for the chair cam and Tincam for the kitchen one.
Note: Webcam software is the flakiest software on the face of the earth. That combined with the vast number of variables involved make success the luck of the draw. Both Yawcam and Tincam doe the same things but I can't get Yawcam to work on one machine and I can't get Yawcam to work on the other. (My brother ran Yawcam on his shop display computer for months and then one day it quit working and he's never been able to get it going again.)
