For those of you hanging on every piece of wig news - and I know you are out there - I have new news. My first two wigs were synthetic hair. They looked fine - if people knew they were wigs they would say 'that's real hair, though, isn't it?'. But, my scalp wasn't that happy. It was getting yucky from constant wear. Dry, itchy, flaky... it was turning into a heartbreak-of-psoriasis commercial.

So I did a little more research and found a human hair wig that was advertised as having a very open cap so you could pull your own hair through to mix if you wanted. $50 with a satisfaction guarantee. I bit. It came today and YAHOOOOOO it's fabulous! It feels great to the touch. It feels great to the head. It looks cute. It even has a few little blonde streaks. It's a keeper.

It does need to be styled (the synthetic ones come pre-styled for life). I haven't done anything with this one yet but plop it on my head. I suspect I can do better and will give it a go soon. I doubt I will do much more than poof it up a bit to get rid of the out-of-the-box look. I did grab this shot at lunch because I know you likely cannot wait one minute longer...

well, you know I'm full of questions about it. Was this from Paula Young? I was concerned about that scalp-ey business. Having taken a pretty good look at what ends up in the bins at my thrift store, they all seem heavy and hot. I figured that's why they ended up there. I've been waiting until all this parade trip business ends next year before I do any serious looking. I suppose I could at least ask for a few color samples.

And I don't have any hair loss, I guess what I had earlier was due to the medication they pumped into me at the hospital. My hair's filled back in, and those wigs I saw at the resale kind of scared me off. Like you said, the scalp issue, and I was wondering if wearing one frequently would lead to my own hair breaking off from abrasion or something like that.

For those of you hanging on every piece of wig news

My first thought when I read that was "yes, that would be me."

Doesn't the fact that you have to style this thing defeat the purpose? Would it not work better to wear the synthetic ones at intervals, and just wear nothing for some days in between?

I typed a comment to this entry earlier, then thought better to post it. It essentially was an inquiry that this particular comment answers quite sufficiently.

Sorry about the original hair. Congrats on the new hair. :)

Hmm. As I read your entries, it never occurs to me that SD is on a path of TMI. I think it is kinda wonderful that you do write (and consequently share) whatever it is that you want to write. I like it.

Far from your journal, the journals that bug me are the ones where the person creates entries solely (sp?) to entice and solicit comments. Don't get me wrong, I myself love the whole comments process, which, incidental, is the only real reason to keep a 'live' journal, but I do feel that it should be a journal and not a popularity contest. Then again, it is hardly up to me to say what others should do or say.

Look who's committing TMI now! ;)

Mr. Book,

Through the comment to which this is a reply to, I went to your journal and ended up at your web site ... and thereby your 'Temporary Gallery'. Oh man do you take beautiful pictures! Thank you so much for letting me see them.

---
A friend of mine saw my digital camera sitting on my desk and asked to see picture I've taken with it to discern the quality of the camera. When I showed him the pictures he said, "with a digital camera...everybody thinks they are a photographer now" which rings true.
The point of that unsolicited story is that, you, sir, are indeed a photographer! You probably don't even use a digital camera. ;)

Excellent stuff!

Inspired to do better by the quality of your work,
Ata - An Admirer.

ok, here's TMI if you've been reading the thread before this one-- SD, I'm gonna grab a piece of your LJ because there was no soap box available... (and I'll keep my rug on straight) but first, a word from my dear departed Dad: "a woman with a wig can look distinguished but a man with a rug can only look extinguished" (I didn't say it I just repeated it... not everything our parents say is profound) now back to the other interruption in your LJ:

Digital cameras don't make everyone a photographer; they make everyone a photographer and publisher and those with a web cam a TV station. Watch SD watching TV and knit... who could want network TV after that? (oh, did you see the cute kitties on tonite? They like to upstage SD... )

back to photography... I am a photographer and yes, a good one, me along with all other camera owners who like to share their work if that work shares a little of who they are. I am able to sell my photographs because I have spent most of my life perfecting the conversion of what I see into what I show. It has taken over thirty years actively making photographs to get to where others want to look at my images. Everyone has a vision of their world, mine is through pictoral images and I've been blessed to be able to do so in a way that others appreciate enough to support my work. If you see images that you like consistantly that I have made, then, we have a bond as travelers of the same road even if along different paths...

we now turn this LJ back to SD...

Peace and Thank You for your kind comment.

(sorry Susan, I just woke from a nap and couldn't think of any thing profound to say.)

Stunning! Seriously I love it. Nice colors too.

I want one for me! Curly. I want curly hair.

PS: I have a cowlick on my right front bangs area. And a tiny mole on the back of my head under my hair, but only I know it is there.

TWINS, separated at birth?
