I'm glad she's found. She probably didn't consider herself lost, did she? Do you think she can get into the drawer when it is closed? Some cats can do that with some drawers. You probably did not put clothes away on top of her, she probably crawled in from underneath.
The funny part is that the drawers in that dresser are not that easy to open and I rarely even use them. I would have said that it would be impossible for her to get in there in the amount of time it took me to put that sweater away. I'm glad I didn't lay any money on it.
But you are right. She appears to believe she just had a nice long nap.
I've been following the Betty saga all day. When you mentioned she had a chip I thought it was like a Lo-Jack where you could track her or something! Silly cat!
Oh, now wouldn't that be cool!! A kitty Lo-Jack!! I love that. It's just a little mirco chip that is registered so that any vet or animal place can run this scan over her and turn up a number that is traced right back to me.
But, I'm still loving that Lo-Jack idea. You may be on to something there!
Yeah that Lo-Jack thing would be cool.....then I got to thinking how out of control it could be...animal jack..then kid jack, then employee jack...then what? Mass anarchy! But hey, big borther is already out there watching...so what's a mere tracking device???? Just a little step into the twilight zone.....
Past my bed time but I simply HAD to visit to see if Betty was back.
WHEW!
I felt so bad about Betty that I let that interloper GARFIELD inside for a while. He is very stinky. You see Garfield thinks he is a boy and she sprays. And that's how he got the name pee-pee pants. He also had assorted branches and leaves stuck on his undercarriage.
Speaking of undercarriages, I too thought Betty's chip was a lo-jack deal. I wondered where it was planted. Thanks to your near miss I now know what the chip is all about.
hmmmm Tom is very quiet during all this hullaballoo over the cat. You know how much he loves kitties.
When I saw your email come in I said to myself... it's WAY too late for her to be up I don't care whether she has tomorrow off or not!
Please tell Garfield that Betty is sorry. I don't think that's the case but she should at least feel guilty. I think, instead, she is rather pissed that I have now shut the drawer on her excellent napping spot.
Those micro chips are all the rage here in the northwest. And I'll bet a pet lo-jack is on the drawing board somewhere. Employee lo-jack, too maybe. Ha.
Some cabinets, dressers, etc don't extend all the way back. Sometimes there is a crawl space from underneath that allows you to reach behind into the drawer. This allows you to turn the dresser upside down and dislodge a stuck drawer (iffen you have put something in the drawer that keeps it from opening - like a metal kabob skewer (happened) or a rattail comb (happened) or even pack it too full that a simple film canister lodges it hopelessly stuck (ok, yes happened). Cats can crawl from behind there. I had a batch of orphaned kittens that notoriously climbed into the bathroom drawers this way.
That is only one possible theory on how Ms. Betty got herself into such a space.
Nonetheless, I am so so so so happy that she was safe and warm and snuggly and you have found her.
Of course it is past my bedtime, but I just woke up from falling asleep in my chair in front of the TV. I think I get my best sleep there. On my way to bed now.
Happy Dance
