I've railed about Microsoft updates - the kind that restart your machine without even asking - for years. I have altered all my machines to prevent it. It's more than annoying that I have to do this.
But, that does not hold a candle to the shenanigans of Adobe. I do not use Adobe products if I can help it. But, on my work machine, I am forced to use their PDF reader (the other PDF readers won't work for stuff I need). I have the reader set to NEVER update automatically EVER.
I just got a notice that Adobe will be shutting my machine down for an update in 24 minutes. My only option? Do it now, rather than wait 24 minutes.
I totally get the perils of not updating. Adobe needs to get that this decision should be mine and not theirs.
Rarely have I ever wanted a dick but this makes me want one so I can tell them to suck it.
