My insurance agent sent me a email this morning saying that the Geico quote was calling for a drastic reduction in coverage (doh!) and I should call her. I replied that I wanted a drastic reduction in coverage that I wanted to reduce my insurance to what was legally required in the state of Washington. Would she please send me a quote. She replied with 'call me'. Wrong answer.

I called her. And she proceeded to yap yap yap yap never stopping to check in or ask my opinion or even see if I was listening. But I was listening and thinking - God, I LOVE this phone!!! It sounds better than my land line!!

She talked herself right out of a customer. She finally wound down and asked me what I wanted to do and I said that I really would like to get a quote from her but that I would understand if she was not insterested.

So I spent some time looking at options. She has my homeowners and my car. I am grossly under insured for homeowners. Gieco has a partnership with Liberty Mutual which is fine by me so I think that's probably the route I'm going. I just paid a year's worth of homeowners in May so there's no hurry there.

I'll get the car insurance nailed probably this week. This new insurance will bring my car costs down to about $450 a year give or take. Not so bad.

Also, after a certain amount of years, you can get by with collision instead of the comprehensive, that's really only critical if your car is fairly new.

That's all I have on my 18 YO truck.

I think she lives on commission and is trying to get you with the full everything whether you actually need it or not.

I think you did the right thing.

My insurance agent is cool. I knew him through a friend and decided to switch to him when American Family Insurance was annoying and rude. My guy listened to me and will do stuff via email! When I wanted to drop insurance on the Escort because I sold it he said the easiest way is to email! Yay!

I've been rearended twice in the last two years and let me tell you my insurance was the easiest to deal with. The appraiser they sent out was nice and had a check ready for me on a printer in his car. So if you want another choice try Country Insurance. Fabulous service from my experience.

cheapest extra insurance for "just in case" that will cover both the house and the car in the event something does happen is an umbrella policy. you can generally spend very little and get quite a lot of coverage. just a thought :-)

Call me?

What?

You want ME to chase YOU for the privilege of giving you my money?

No way - you want my business YOU do the fricken' chasing. I have options.

I recently heard on NPR about defamation insurance. For a few dollars a year the commentator got coverage against anyone suing him for anything he said online. Considering that people are getting sued for things they say on twitter it may be a good investment.
