The A/C is in
Jun. 12th, 2010 04:09 pmThis year was the easiest install ever. I finally cracked how to do it last year after years of struggle and really reaped the benefits this year. The accordion exhaust hose is on its last legs, however, I just googled up a replacement and unless I'm misunderstanding, the price is $65. I think, come Fall, when I put it away for the winter, I'm going to take the exhaust hose to home depot and find some nice aproned person and say 'we can replace this for under $60 right??' Worth a shot.

Ann and Ron dropped by just after I finished on their way home with their brand new pizza stone! Ron says he's going to practice first and then he'll be having a Bring Your Own Toppings party. They are so cute.

Ok, chores are done, now I think I'll veg for a bit.

Hey am I remembering right that you keep track of the date every year that you bring out your AC? I'm wondering because I know that this year Seattle broke a record for the latest date on record that we got to 75°, so I wondered if this was the latest date ever that you brought out your AC.

Date: 2010-06-15 02:50 pm (UTC)In 2005, I didn't set it up until July and didn't even use it until July 17!
In 2008, it was June 25.
Interesting, eh? And you know that I pull it out at the first hint of too hot.
If it gets to 75 for one day and then goes back down, it stays ok in here. Several days in a row with warm nights is when these old bricks heat up and stay warm. So I'm guessing former years were mostly cool with flashes of warm.

It always amuses me when you say my memory is amazing. I often can't remember shit! But it is somewhat common that the things I do remember makes people impressed that I remember those particular things. My sister once said to me, "I'm going to start calling you The Almanac," because I was spouting information -- probably about weather! Maybe that's why I remembered this thing about your AC -- I'm always interested in weather and so I pay more attention.
