What kind of week will it be?
Jun. 14th, 2010 08:29 amI actually thought I had more work waiting for me than it turned out I did so now I'm done. And it's 8 a.m. hmmmm I'm guessing today there will be little or no work at least until late afternoon. Probably the rest of the week - in fact probably the next couple of weeks - will be light in terms of stuff to do. July, August and September promise to be busy so it will all balance out just fine and dandy.

My Mom rarely complained about any physical hurt. She might mention a pain in passing but never more than that, until the time she got gout. She said she had never ever ever had anything hurt that much. It hurt me just to listen to her describe it. So I've always been afraid of getting it myself.
This morning I woke up and the large joint just below the big toe on my right foot is OH so sore. Really sore to walk on.
I remember having this before - so I used LJ search which, miracle of miracles, found my previous mentions! One time 53 weeks ago and one time 67 weeks ago. In both instances, according to me, it hurt like a mofo for 24 hours and then healed itself. So, now that I know that, no more problem.
Every time I get an ache or pain these days, I wonder if it's not the beginning of the end. I have had 62 years of extraordinary health. I don't even get colds. It can't last forever so I'm always on the lookout for the beginning of the end. It's kind of like preemptive hypochondria.
But, thanks to LJ search, I don't think today is the day.

Day 2 of tea. Turns out that the 'don't over steep' combined with 'steep for 4 mins' - thank you LJers! - advice was pretty spot on. Today I tried Lipton. I like not having the coffee. I like not messing with the setup at night and I don't particularly miss the flavor. I'm just not entirely sure tea is the right substitute. But, now that the window of change is open, I think there will be more experimenting.
I am having some issues with temperature control. It seems like there is such a limited time when tea is drinkable. It's too hot and so I wait and then, in the blink of an eye, it's barely warmer than room temperature. I am enjoying the leftovers over ice.

Ok. I need to:
Clean up the kitchen
Finish up the latest bear
Clean up the stuff around the desk
Find out what's holding up my Seido order
Call about house insurance

Three or four Advils every three or four hours also helps the pain.
Don't ignore it and let it subside, as the crystals, if left unchecked, can not only get worse but can cause lasting damage.

There's a new medication being touted at gout.com, but I haven't really researched it.
But if there's any chance it's gout, seriously, lots of water helps. Not beer; there are lots of excess purines in beer. :-(

The tumbler I mentioned in a previous entry is what keeps my tea nice and hot for several hours.
