Down time is winding down...
Jun. 21st, 2010 03:59 pmMy bug queue is getting stuffed - as each comes in my work laptop gives off a little chirp. Usually when it chirps, I get to work but these chirps can't be attended to until tomorrow so I just jump a little. It's great to have the work. I'm ready. I've enjoyed the down time but I'm ready to get back on the horse.
I did spend a bit of time today futzing with my user pic. I got tired of the hat number and used the front facing camera on my phone to come up with one that is still not Susan Saranden which is who I'd rather look like) but will work for now. Someone needs to create a web service that provides you photo to a whole list of services so I don't have to go to a million places to change it. Go!
Chef Tom has left a house full of yumicity. We are thinking that more visits with less food per visit will work better. My freezer isn't big enough and I don't have enough glass containers (or places to stash them) and I do get kind of tired of some of the repetitiveness of the meals. Baked spaghetti 3 times a week is just too many times a week. Baked spaghetti once every week and a half is perfect. We're going to move towards that...
I do love love love having him cook for me. He totally 'gets' me and my food loves and wants.
In other good news... My 4 am start time tomorrow got moved to 6 am. So I get to sleep in! And I only have to go to 2. So I think I might just make a rare afternoon gym appearance tomorrow. I cannot afford to skip any more days - other than Monday. I am running out of stamina again and yesterday I had to walk up a steep hill and it was just not that good.
That hill was in Tacoma.
machupicchu and I went to a concert - the Seattle Men's Chorus and Women's Chorus. It was at the Pantages Theater which is not only an old and very well preserved/restored theater, it is tiny. We were in the nosebleed seats (which were not cheap) and they were on a fairly scary incline. The choruses were cut in half because the stage was so small. All in all, not that satisfactory experience. I'm really glad we went - we will know to do that again :)
And I got to indulge my jones for Red Lobster on the way home. Matthew is such a sport. His vegitarianitis is not Red Lobster friendly or vice versa but he was a trouper and roundly rewarded with some really delicious cheese and herb biscuits. And my lobster did not suck one bit. It was good.
He is kind enough to do all the driving as well. Oh and it rained like a sonofabitch on the way down there so my car got a free car wash. And while we were gone the Mariners won! They are currently enjoying a season high 4 game winning streak!!
I've got a little bit of work work this afternoon and then an evening of junk TV and bear knitting.

Date: 2010-06-22 01:20 am (UTC)something about nothing...
Date: 2010-06-22 12:32 pm (UTC)What is the little silver bar on the bottom of the back of the piece? All the phones I've seen have been attached to security bits in the stores, and I can't seem to figure that part out - does it slide? (It's a dumb way to remove the back for battery access if that's what it's for.)
Can you use music (or otherwise your own sounds or tones) as ring tones, or have to take the pre-installed (stupid) ones?
I love the big, flat screen, and the screen keyboard is a little more user friendly than my current droid phones on screen keyboard (err go, I use the slide out tactile keyboard, but it makes the whole thing bigger and heavier than it needs to be). The first one I picked up had the calendar and weather as its default home screen, it was rainy out that day, it "rained" on the screen and some wipers came down and wiped it away - I laughed so hard at that.
Thanks in advance!

Date: 2010-06-22 12:59 pm (UTC)The silver bar on the back is a kickstand. I have a little clock app that I turn on at night, flip out the stand and BAM, the EVO is my nightstand alarm clock.
The keyboard takes some getting used to but it works fine - and that rain with the windshield wipers is just hilarious every single time I see it - which, in Seattle, is often!
Oh and the ringtone thing... I didn't know so I looked it up:

You can also use a music file as a ringtone. To set up a music file as your ringtone, please use the micro USB cable to connect the phone to a USB port on your computer. The Connect to PC dialog box displays and prompts you to choose Disk drive > Done. Your phone’s SD card is mounted as a drive on your computer. You can now copy music files to the SD card.
After you have finished copying, open the notifications panel (by touching and then dragging the status bar down) on your device; then in the Notifications panel, touch Charge only.
Then tap All programs > Music > tap the music you want to set as a ringtone (the music will start playing) > press Menu > Set as ringtone. You can set the music file as a Phone ringtone or Contact ringtone or you can select Trim the ringtone.

Date: 2010-06-22 05:26 pm (UTC)I think a lot of it was the venue. But it did seem that there were some missed cues here and there. The last 3 numbers (before the encore) were absolutely spot on perfect - perfect selections and perfectly done. The kind of performance that just makes the hair on your arms stand up and you wish the song would never end. If the whole show had been like the last 3, it would have been beyond amazing.
The small sketch numbers did not work so well - I didn't understand the 3 sailor guys at all - couldn't understand the song or what their deal was.
However, the Sweeny Todd quickie was brilliant.
I'm guessing that the full chorus show is going to be really really good. Break a l... and enjoy!
