Holy cow! I usually drive twice that far in a year. My car is eight years old and it's at 197,000 km. Since moving close to downtown last summer I do a lot more walking to shop and socialize, but still, my job, partner, children and cottage are all at a distance.

I had this horrible commute in 1999 and it was hot and I had a German car with air conditioning that felt like hot dog breath so I bought this car - Ford and you could hang meat in there when the a/c's cranked up.

And then, 2 months later, I got headhunted into a job across the street. Plus, public transport stops within spittin' distance. And, of course, I rarely go anywhere!

Oh that's nuthin'. My truck is is 18 YO and has 227600+ miles on the clock and is still going - and its a Ford too. :-)

My van is 10 years old too. I bought it last year in March with 121K miles on it. I'm at 209K now. Another couple of months and I'll have put 100K.
