Sunday - random thots
Jun. 9th, 2002 02:36 pmI haven't been keeping up with lj_maintenance so I didn't know about the possible downtime this morning. I got up and couldn't get to Live Journal for what seemed to be a really long time. The withdrawal was pretty painful. I was sure grateful when it came back.
Mom's AntiVirus software (Norton's) won't update for some reason. I asked her to reboot. Then I discovered that PCAnywhere isn't loading with Windows - although that option is checked. I had to call her and walk her through the process of booting it up. At least now she has Windows 2000 so she won't be rebooting often.
Betty has found a new hiding place. She's now fond of perching in the mechanism under the swivel recliner. When you look under the chair, you don't see her - you have to look under and up into the mechanism. She's in for a shock pretty soon because I'm getting rid of that chair. If my neighbor doesn't want it, I'm thinking of posting a 'free if you come get it' notice in the Seattle LJ community. I've never liked it and want it out of my living room.
I ordered new slipcovers for the other living room furniture. Time for a change.
Last week I tried to get Betty interested in some of the cat toys that Jake has sprinkled around the house. No go. She was only interested in my hand. But, this morning she found one - one of the dumbest ones - and was having a time with it. Pitching it up in the air and catching it. It was pretty funny.
She's the first cat I've ever had who's a licker. At night, in bed, she licks my hand. Now, if you've ever had a cat lick your skin you know it is not pleasant. Their tongues feel like sandpaper. She must have lived with a dog at one time.

Date: 2002-06-10 05:47 am (UTC)So I am back to square one and must retype tonight. Nothing earth shattering anyway.
Loved the pic you posted for Gigi of Betty.
Will try to take some shots of cats to post SOON.
