So poor FJ!! can't get sunglasses because he lost his wallet and his new cards haven't come in yet and he posted about it. This prompted me to consider my own 'lost wallet' backup plan. I had a good one about 7 years ago but had no thought about it (or, gratefully, needed it) since.

My plan revolves around a stash or cash and a spare Visa in a drawer at home. I check the drawer and there were two spare Visa's in there. One expired last year and another one expired in 2000. Hmmmmm

Then I remembered Nordstrom's. About six months ago they replaced their charge cards with Visas. I got one on the mail and filed it away. So today I went to "Misc. Credit Card Stuff" and dug out the mailer with the card attached. I called to activate it - all went fine. Card's good until December of 2004 and it's now in my backup-card-spot in my desk. The old ones are cut up in the trash.

I'm sure that had I waited until I needed it, I would not have found it or it would not have activated for some reason and I'd be toast.

Thanks, FJ!! I wish I could make your sunglasses happen in time for this weekend...

Thanks

I just set up a lost wallet backup. I had some spare cash, but hadn't thought to have a spare charge card. I have an American Express card that I almost never use --- got it as a backup in case VISA decided to shut that card down during our vacation trip --- so it is in the backup wallet.

Also in the backup are all the numbers of the cards that would be lost. Plus Xerox copies of my drivers license, passport, etc.

Thanks for the prompt.
