Gritty eyes

For several years now, I've had this eye thing where grit just grows on my lower eyelids and sometimes the upper ones. It's like teensy little rocks embedded there. For the first few years I thought it was the beginning of a sty and when the stys never happened, I was thrilled.

The last couple of eye doctors I have seen have gotten all stressed about it. They both told me to put hot compresses on my eyes twice a day for five minutes and to wash the lids with eye wash or baby shampoo. The washing got too tedius and 5 minutes with no eyes twice a day? Not happening for me.

But, for the first time, over the past couple of days, it's really gotten bad - like a gravel driveway on the bottom lids - and it's been bugging me. So I remembered kyrielle's suggestion of doing the eye compress just before I went to sleep.

So last night, when I put my book down, I turned on the news and put on the compress and fell asleep. I woke up about 20 minutes later and took off the compress and went to sleep. This morning my grit is very nearly all gone!!

Wild.

What you have is actually an infestation by a very small microbal critter. The condition is called Blust I think. Go to an eye doctor, they will give you a ointment to put in. It goes away in about a week.

Wow... that's one I've never heard of and one that neither of the past two doctors has mentioned. Thanks for the tip. Off to google it....

No problem I had it as a kid. Someone told me then and I thought they were making it up. I went to an eye doctor and he told me that. I hope you get it cleared up.

Holey Crust! That's IT!! Wow. And the woman I went to last month for my contacts told me about the tear gel stuff - she said the over the counter stuff is fine and I should get some and I promptly forgot about it!
