I've lived in four time zones and a dozen states and a bunch towns but Seattle is the very best.

This afternoon I took the free bus to the other end of downtown and meandered home from there - stopping in at various little shops to browse and wandering through Pike Place Market and strolled on home from there. It has cooled down a whole bunch and it rained this morning so the air was crisp. The tourists were out and curious and fun to watch. There were some new shops I hadn't ever seen before and some old favorites. I didn't buy anything, just strolled and looked and wandered and soaked in the city. It was a nice little outing.

Sounds like my kind of excursion. Aimless, plotless, mindless, and terribly, terribly enjoyable. Though the camera does tend to lead me here and there sometimes.

How come I've got so many Seattle friends? Are you different or something?

. . . our town IS great! I grew up in southern California, raised my girls in rural southern Idaho (population 900 when we arrived in Wendell, ID) and had the entire "lower 48" to choose from when it was time to "de-ruralize". Seattle was my hands-down favorite and I've never never regretted the choice. Incredibly friendly, accepting, laid-back folk, spectacular scenery(in every direction - and that includes some of the aforementioned folk!). Bottom line: Seattle has energy 'n' ambience out the kazoo!

I've always had it in my head that I would probably migrate West one day. I Figured that down the road I'd either wind up in San Francisco (more of a pipe dream as it's just so expen$ive there) or Seattle (not sure of cost of living...surely it can't be as outrageous as SF....comments?).
Been to San Fran, haven't had a chance to visit your fair city...not yet anyway. Everyone I've ever talked to that's been there (or lives there) raves about it.

Thanks for the inside info. In the meantime, I'd be happy just to be able to make time to visit and check out the area. Hmmmm...maybe next year.
