Happy Monday Morning
Jan. 3rd, 2011 09:04 amI still have a land line but I keep the ringer turned off on all extensions except the one in the bedroom nightstand drawer. When all is very quiet in the house, I can hear it ring and that was the situation just now. The only calls I ever get on it are telemarketing calls. (The answering machine message says I do not answer it and gives my cellphone number.) It's not yet 9 a.m. so I figured it could not be a telemarketer.
Wrong... 'Good morning! This is Ben with Home Security Network! How are' Sorry, Ben, my finger accidentally hit the off button. I'm fine but very astounded that you are on duty so early.
---
So far, this morning, my iPad would not go to several websites I wanted - including Livejournal. My webcam went down. My cr-48 crashed and had to be rebooted. Is this going to be a technologically challenging day???
I think Microsoft is the only entity taking today as a holiday. Happily, I have a project I can work on. I'm happy for the billable hours and uninterrupted time to do the work. Plus, I've just about drained both TiVos of all the interesting watchables. And Netflix still won't give me The It Crowd, Season 4.
---
It is snowing in Las Vegas. Yep. Snow showers. But, seriously, CES in the snow? I actually can't think of any more perfect scenario. It will be warm there again by Wednesday but what a fun tweet to read this morning.
I am getting so jazzed. I was just really excited about Las Vegas and spending some fun time with my brother and while both of those things still loom large, now the web is hopping with CES fun and I'm getting very excited about the show. There's an interactive web map where you can click on a booth number and get the skippy on who's there. Note to self, bring bag for swag.

Date: 2011-01-03 07:02 pm (UTC)It's because the end-of-year holidays fall on Sundays, so that -- since Sunday holidays are observed on the following day -- they would come up one day short in 2011. The two options are to add a holiday that isn't normally observed or to observe New Year's in both years. If they add a holiday not usually observed, people will expect it to continue. So this way, they offer the committed number of days off without changing the observed holidays.

Date: 2011-01-04 05:18 am (UTC)I've used my cellphone once or twice for these conf calls and they weren't great. The land line is easier and clearer.
One day, I'll declare pissing $20 a month away for something so silly is just... well... silly. But not yet.
