I just realized this morning that my Discover card is having a special - 5% cash back on all hotel, restaurant and airfare charges - score! I rarely get to take advantage of their specials like this. Nice.

---

Travis and Betty both slept on the bed with me last night but it was clear that Travis thought that my sleeping there was different. He kept resettling around me like I was in his way. I was only gone 3 nights!

---

I did a cursory check of the work computer and there was very strangely no emails from my project which means there was no work or tons. I'll get onto the network today and further investigate.

---

Yesterday was pretty darned busy at the Las Vegas airport. This morning I've seen several tweets that it's total mayhem there this morning (and it's not yet 8). In retrospect, I think we did it exactly right. Just the right number of days and just the right days. Perfection.

---

My feet and legs are happy for the rest. I think I'll be making my own brunch today and shortening up the Sunday walk considerably to the 20 steps from this bed to the kitchen.

---

My brother and I loved the MGM Grand pillows. He found them online and I ordered one while I was at the airport yesterday. I've been looking for a great pillow for years.

---

Laundry is on the agenda today.

---

I got a menu from Chef Anita. It's a clear indication that she paid attention to what I said and has an excellent imagination. I'm so delighted. I requested one change. I'll share when it gets finalized. She cooks here a week from Tuesday.

---

Much as I loved so much of MGM Grand, their early checkout/guest receipt process is less than satisfactory. They give you this card to fill out and drop in a box by the elevator. It's a simple card and promises a detailed receipt at their website. It sounded GREAT and way better than standing at line at the front desk. So I did it.

What the card did NOT make clear was that you fill out a form on the website and ONLY then do you get the info that your receipt will be send via email in 3 to 4 days. WTF? Email by pony express???? Not impressive.

The show was fun. Las Vegas was great. But the real joy of the trip was getting three days with my baby brother to catch up, learn new stuff, share and just enjoy. He turned out to be the ying to my yang in so many things. We meshed well together. And I think he felt the same way. We traveled a lot as kids and it showed.

---

LATER MUCH LATER - yet another one I forgot to send so I'll just add on...

---

I have now totally unpacked. Found a home for all my non-bag swag. Done the laundry and - this is the critical piece cause it's the piece I hate - put all the clean clothes away. Then I took the swag bags - except a couple that are very cool and kind of back-packy - down to the car with some stuff for Goodwill. I also took a load of trash to the dumpsters. Once at the car, I organized the bags and the Goodwill stuff and emptied the trash.

Then back up here, I logged on to work, did the updates required to get back on the corporate network. Perused what happened while I was gone (looks like not much) sent off a couple of emails and filed the little bit of emails that had come in.

Now I am done. I am claiming the rest of the day for junk TV and bear knitting.

I thought of you today while we were having brunch with [livejournal.com profile] fj and others. The place had self-service coffee (and tea and juice and other stuff), and I remarked that this would solve your can't-get-the-second-cup problem (and in fact I was very happy to be able get my refill exactly when I needed it). [livejournal.com profile] fj opined that you might not be so thrilled with having to get up to get your own coffee in the first place.

I understand the "real joy" of your trip. I can totally relate. So glad you had that time with your brother.

Sounds like you had a great trip, and I agree - three days is about perfect for Vegas. I was once there for 10 days and by day 5 I was ready to scream at the sounds of the slot machines.
