I have a new web cam and so new web cam page set up that is kind of giving me a few fits. It should not, but I *think* that when you first hit the page, it asks for your credentials. And it shouldn't.

So, wanna hit the URL and test it? I have instructions on the page but they may be too far down the page to be of use. http://www.susandennis.com/webcam.htm

EDIT: back to the drawing board... :)

---

I got the ship notice for my TV today and so sent Amazon the Price Match, you owe me $100 note. I will be interested in how that all shakes out.

I need to figure out what to do with my current TV. I can't decide if it's worth the hassle of selling it - I couldn't ask too much for it since I'm pretty sure it's on the way to broken. If I do, sell it... Craig's list? Seattle LJ community? BB notice in this building? I think that last one is the worst idea. I could donate it but I don't - off the top - know of a place that wants it and will come pick it up. I have some time to conjur.

---

I had an exhausting battle with server tools this afternoon trying to get work done. We finally ended about 6 ... in a draw. whew. I'm looking forward to an evening of junk TV.

This is what happened to me too in Chrome. I just checked in IE and got an "Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage" message.

I suggest Freecycle for the TV if you don't want to sell it. I can promise you somebody will want it and be happy to come pick it up. I gave away crappy old furniture that was literally falling apart that way.

Doesn't ask for credentials, but also never stops saying "Loading..." and never shows an image. It shows a page with your heading and tiny instructions and weather, and a blank space where the webcam image should be.

I know it's only of historic interest now but NoScript flat out rejected it, in a way that I couldn't get around easily, for requesting local resources.

No problem, it was just FYI, I have lots of browsers and I'm not religious about my affiliation to any of them. But it isn't an error I have seen before.

I tried a Logitech camera but it relied on an external server and it was sending huge numbers of small packets (mice) all the time, to the extent that it was flooding the up link and affecting other traffic. So now it is permanently off. So I'll be interested when you get a good solution.

Then again our need to see what was going on when we were out left on December 15th and has hardly been heard from since.

Surprisingly, it just worked for me. Latest Firefox, latest Mac OS (10.6.6), NoScript enabled, but I allowed susandennis.com and the IP number that popped up.

Not sure if these guys operate in your area or not but it may be worth a try if you decide to donate:

www.unitedwarveterans.org

I'm always putting stuff out for them to collect and they leave you a receipt for your income tax.
