I just had the best bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich ever ever ever on the face of the earth. I mean it was just perfect.

And while I scoured the freezer section of ruralrob Coffee Toffee Crunch, alas, my Japanese grocer doesn't carry it! I'm appalled. Sadly, I had to settle for Ben and Jerry's. But, honestly, in the grand scheme of things, having to settle for second best Coffee Toffee Crunch can't quite be listed as a tragedy, now can it?

Mariners game in a bit.

Susan, that sounds really good. I was listening just last weekend to the Merrill Schindler, who normally critique's area restaurants...but for some reason had a guest and here's the book she has written:

The author and Merrill (who's from NYC originally) had a wonderful discussion about BLT's. An American "childhood memory and comfort food." They determined that it really must be on white toast, not too dark, with iceberg lettuce, mayonaise and a ripe tomato. I'll admit that sometimes I add some raw onion, or even avocado. The author did research on BLT's all over the country.
Well, thanks once again...now I'm craving one. Isn't it enough that less than 10 minutes ago I finished watching yet another of your fine Netflix picks?

I love that! A BLT book. I'm in total agreement with the BLT rules. They are not breakable as far as I'm concerned, BUT you can embelish. I've been known to add the onion... or the slice of American cheese (not cheese food, real American cheese). I"ve never done the avacado but only because I never thought of it! I can't think of anything that can't be made better with avacado except maybe chocolate pudding...

The only problem with Tortilla soup was taking the NYPD cop out of that one daughter. It was a fun find, wasn't it?

I haven't tried cheese on my blt...hmmmmmm. Bacon with avocado is a treasure I've only discovered since I've been living in California.

And yes, Tortilla Soup was fun, thanks once again for your expert recommendation. Btw, I liked Catch Me If You Can,..and one of the funniest "trashy family" scenes was that dinner table one in About Schmidt. Kathy Bates was a riot.

I don't know whether to blame Susan or RuralRob for this one, but even though I've never cared for Coffee Ice Cream, darned if I didn't get some this afternoon.

The Ben and Jerry's Coffee Heath Bar Crunch Crunch was wonderful.

I love reading your journals, thank you...but MUST I try everything that sounds so good?
