A couple of drunks, the homeless and me
Jan. 16th, 2011 10:56 amThat was the entire population of downtown Seattle this morning. I guess everyone else is hunkered down in front of their TV's watching the Seahawks... I just turned it on - Oh! snow!!!! How pretty!!
I did the bus to the other end of town walk today. Then on to The Fairmont Hotel for brunch. Only this morning I specifically picked a route that was mostly uphill. I worked hard at CES. On my feet and walking far and long and it was good. So I figure if I can add on some additional exercise without sacrificing any couch time, it will be better than not.
The Georgian Room - the very posh brunch spot, it turns out, is renovating their kitchen and so had a very very limited menu. Turns out this will be the case until April. My two favorite items are not on the limited menu. Aft first I was devastated but, as I read my paper and drank my always hot coffee and wallowed more in the luxury, I got over it. They had a cold buffet and a hot one - including build your own omelet. I hate having to get up and go get but the hot buffet was pretty tasty and worth the $20. So, I guess this isn't the world-scale disaster I first thought it was.
Plus I sat next to a table of 8 people speaking loud French and it was fun to try and follow along. I can speak NO French at all but I can read a bit and, it turns out, follow the drift of conversation. Fun.
The walk home was a windy, wet one but fine since the wind and wet kept it from being too warm. And I certainly had no need to fight off the crowds!
Betty hopped into my lap when I first sat down and then Travis bullied her away so she just went over and claimed the Fish House that is his favorite. And is watching him now with a Ha! I've Got Your Spot look. They are a funny pair.
