It's a disease. Or more likely a mental defect. I am obsessed by this TV thing and cannot shake it. I decided that I did not need a new TV. Mine isn't broken yet. It will take weeks and weeks to straighten out the charges on my credit card from the Vizio debacle. I don't need a new TV,.

And, yet, I just bought one.

It's not LED. Or 3D. It's not even the latest model. It's a Samsung LN40C560.

It's only 40 inches so delivery is simple (and tomorrow) and Samsung auto hides unused inputs and has picture in a picture and did have the fanciest booth at CES... Amazon had it on special and threw in the wireless adapter for free. The price, with the extended warranty, (plus shipping and tax0 ended up being half of what the Vizio costs me. Plus, the size is right - I can lift and carry it - it's a tiny bit bigger than the one I have now and looks nice.

I know, I'm nuts.

No, you're actually not.

Back a few months ago you'll recall the post I made where I was deciding what to buy myself for Christmas. I bought the new TV because, even though it was the most boring gift on my list and I already had a perfectly functioning LCD TV (which is now my mother's), it was also the one I'd use the most. The move from a 720P set to a 1080P set alone was worth the change...in 1080P I swear the aquarium screen saver that I run on my media PC looks as realistic as my actual aquarium!

The AK-47 would have been a blast (har har), but even here in the country it just wouldn't have seen a lot of use.

When one picks out a TV, one might as well have one that makes them happy. Especially when you consider how much time you look at the darn thing.

If only my mother was in this country and I could justify the LED TV by giving the current one to her...

Eh, you don't need it- yet- but you want it and can afford it. And your old TV is dying, so you'd need it soon enough, and have spared youself the aggravation of a day or more without. Enjoy it!

Call it right-sizing. :-)

Where did you find the specs for it? What I'm seeing around the web doesn't mention PIP.

Even without LED, Samsung makes an impressive display. Looking forward to your continued adventures.

As Howeird says, the Samsung, though without LED lighting does make a fantastic picture anyway, I have the now 2 YO, almost 3 year old Samsung 4 series 32" w/ 720P (what I could swing at $800, on sale at the time IIRC, also by Amazon) and when properly set up, has a fantastic image, now I just need to also add a Blu-Ray player...
