We've been waiting to start this new project now it seems like for weeks. The last bit is for them to finish backing up the data base which was expected to be finished by 10 this morning. It's 10:20 and I'm waiting for word.

This new team likes to start early in the morning which is great. I had my first emails of questions at 7. And the questions are good ones and I love that they are asking. Way better than guessing. 'They' are the people who assign the work to me and my team to do. If they assign it with the correct parameters, we can bang through it all in record time. If we have to stop and guess or figure out stuff or ask, we stop banging. So good they are asking.

But, now we wait.

Meanwhile, I have, pretty much, determined that Comcast is not the perp in my connection issues. Twice this morning my VPN connection got dropped. And Office Communicator keeps dropping and coming back. Ping txt shows I have not lost one single packet since 6 am.

So, BAM, Microsoft! It's all on you. So far after those two blips a couple of hours ago, it's been ok.

Some guy took a corner too fast this morning and knocked a power pole to the curb... And killed all the electricity in the neighborhood where my company's office is is. And he houses his servers - email, etc, in those offices... There are generally a half dozen people or more who go into work there every day. I hope they all found nice warm coffee shops and don't need email or sharepoint.

Oh new news - looks like the power isn't going to be restored as soon as they thought and poor Jim's (boss) is going to bring in a generator to run the goodies off of. Fun times. I love love love working at home.

Periodically, I hear of an interesting job around town at a company or place that sounds like it would be an interesting place to work for whatever reason (great building, fun neighborhood, enlightened management, or any number of other factors).

I actually got headhunted not too long ago for one of the companies on my short list. I was so tempted, I told the hunter that I was interested. And then, after about an hour of thinking about it, I realized that I would have to actually get dressed and actually go to that place every damn day and I called him back and said no thank you.

What I got now is exactly perfect for me. I am one lucky ducky.

And the luckiest part is that you realize how lucky you are. Good going.
