My Amtrak on Track or at least the station is...

I don't even have to get out of my chair to see trains coming and going from our Amtrak. The old Amtrak station with it's marvelous clock tower decorates my view from my living room. It's been there since forever and been 'under renovation', it seems for half that time.

Finally, a couple of years ago, they got serious. The finally fixed the clock so it tells the correct time. Then they got specially replicated roof tiles from some outfit in German that was just before tossing them out. Last fall they started working on the plaza.

I walk by the plaza nearly every time I go to catch a bus. I have snapped photos of their progress. Here's one from January:




Today I finally saw a rendering of what it will look like in a few months...

In their dreams. The inside is still a dump. Very sad, because the first time I arrived at that station in January 1973, it looked glorious on the inside.

I'm sure it will never match your standards, but, the inside renovation is slated to start after the exterior and foundation work is completed,

If they manage to restore it to its former condition, it will surpass my standards. I'm just frustrated with what a mess they made of it, and how long the renovation is taking.
