Turns out, our office can't handle the heat. The temperature was set to chill at max and the temp was 80 degrees. I figured I could do better than that at home so I stuck a note on my monitor telling everyone where they could find me and came home at 2. It's not a whole lot better here yet, But my air conditioner just got started and it's trying hard to catch up.
I got in early to make the latest set of changes to the mailer that they can't decide on how they want to do... 450 names/one mailer has now turned into 450 names in two stacks - some signed by one and the rest signed by another and then each of those into six stacks - different messges and then each of those into 3 stacks - different mailing dates. So now I've got 36 stacks of stuffed/labeled envelopes waiting for the letters... This is getting funner and funner.
Betty has not tried another getaway - she was right in my face when I woke up this morning. I think I'll put a sign out sheet by the front door in case she wants to try again.

Ah, heat!

During the Carter administration and the oil shortage, there was a requirement that businesses not cool until the building temp was above 78. When this was implemented in Building 50 at Tektronix, we came in one morning to find the building at a really nice 70 degrees --- since the west coast generally cools off so nicely during the night. At precisely 7:00, the heat came on, raised the building temp to 78 and then started the air conditioning!
It took us three days to convince facilities that this was happening. And two more before they fixed it.
