Motivation Engine Clog
Jul. 24th, 2003 12:53 pmI got in early this morning and flew at great guns. I got a ton o' shit done. But, now I'm done and it's not yet 1 p.m.!
I learned early on that I am a project person. I'm not an assembly line person. I can only do assembly line stuff for so long. It always seems so attractive. No decisions. Pick up one, do something, put it down, pick up next one, later, rinse, repeat. And it is great for the first hour and then ... it's more like pick up one, why bother, put it down, skip next one...
I have several big projects on my plate right now.
- A total redesign/reorg of the internal website. (I'm about 80% done)
- A review of the external website. (I'm about 50% done)
- Another one of those fucking direct mail pieces. (30% done)
- The org chart needs a tweak and then the tweak reformatted in two different ways and posted in about 4 places. (not done at all)
- The Corporate Exchange address book needs to be expunged of all detail. Manually. Entry by entry.
All of these things need to be done in the next few days. Ok, making a list just got the engine going again. I think I'll do some more expunging of the address book. That's kind of fun.
Later...
Oh and since I'm always the first to bitch about the heat, let me say that it is way much cooler here today. Nearly perfect in my temperature book. We still need rain but at least we aren't going to bake today.

Expunging now

Re: Expunging now
Date: 2003-07-24 01:52 pm (UTC)So... it was my bright idea to move all the information to the Address Book, where we could include reporting structure and spit it out into a spreadsheet, an org chart AND a corporate Contacts folder.
But, after a year, I discovered that we had evolved into one person keeping up the Corporate Contacts folder, and one person keeping up the spreadsheet and one person keeping up the Address book (which would not, as it turned out due to a Microsoft Exchange glitch, spit out an org chart or even a workable spreadsheet).
So I quit updating the address book.
Last week someone complained that the information in the address book wasn't current. DUH. And a huge debate ensued on where to keep the information. It was decided to keep the Contacts and the spreadsheet and empty all of the data out of the Address Book. I volunteered.
I think the decision is stupid but I'm over it already.
And that's the nits and grits of the tale. Pretty exciting, isn't it?
