I fell again on my knees.  This time on both of them and one ankle. That's 3 times in 3 weeks. The one from three weeks ago - fall #1 was still painful to the touch and it got the lions share of the latest fall and I'm talking some major major hurt here.  This time is was on the carpet in the condo hall. I was just walking down the hall, not even quickly, and my ankle turned and down I went.  At least this time I lost no skin but, honestly, another knee scrape would not hurt as much as this does.  I need a third knee.

Fuck,  ouch, fuck, ouch.

It hurts to touch.  It's going to be a bitch to ice down but I would like to have it numb so I'm going to try it.  I just took a gout pill (anti-inflamitory).

Seriously, this falling shit has got to stop.

Ouch! I hope it proves to not be too serious, and that you're able to get some relief quickly.

I'm also a bit concerned about so many falls in a short time-- you're sure it was just your ankle today?

But to me this seems no good way of testing it! Just get better soon!

Echoing what [livejournal.com profile] kayre said; I'm concerned whether you have something balance-related going on (could be as simple as your contact/glasses adventures affecting your peripheral vision on one sid). Meanwhile, perhaps we ought to all chip in and buy you some bubble wrap.

I thought you were only changing your glasses for computer work, but if you have changed what you wear while out and about, that could well be what's behind the falls. Glasses and contacts affect peripheral vision differently, so that you can't quite tell where your feet are, or other things on the ground.

I'm happy to chip in for the bubble wrap for your poor legs. Hope it's just a coincidence having these falls in a short space of time.

You've gotten the RICE lecture by now, I assume: asap for acute injuries: REST. ICE. COMPRESS. ELEVATE.

Rice is nice! The compress part can be done with an ace bandage or the special knee/ankle wrappers you can find at the drugstore.

I must have missed all this falling you've been doing--I'm far behind in reading my friends. So sorry to hear this. I'll backtrack and see what's going on.

I've fallen several times and it's no fun at all. But I just don't watch where I'm going and trip over things.

I like the bubble wrap idea! :)

An ankle injury can be deceiving. It may seem healed. You may not be experiencing pain from it any longer, but the supporting tendons and ligaments can still be weak and prone to re-injury. You may need to help your ankle with some extra support like an ace bandage or some other support garment and even something like a cane just temporarily for a few months while it heals completely.

I once injured my ankle and then continued to re-injure until I finally took the steps I suggested above.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

Falling a lot is what made Mom move to The Home. :-)

But seriously, two falls under different conditions does not strike me as something systemic. RICE sounds like good advice, especially the R part. Hope you're out of pain soon, and manage to find softer things to fall on.

I was wondering - If your ankle turned and that caused the fall perhaps different shoes with more support would help avoid? What kind of shoes were you wearing this time and the last time?
