It's big. Bigger than I imagined. I kind of thought it would perch in the middle of my 4 burners and be a 5th. er, no. This buddy don't share realestate. But, that's ok. I have a space to the side where it can live nicely.

I read the instructions and whipped out the pan that a magnet sticks to, filled it with water and turned it on. The water was boiling faster than if I had tried that same amount of water in the microwave. The pan got hot and the burner got warm. But, I could touch both without burning me.

It has 10 settings 1-10 for power low to high. And then it has 10 settings for temperature. So if you want to boil water, you give it a 10. If you want to bring your xxx up to 400 degrees, you set it for 400 degrees.

I think I like it a lot.

The instructions do say to use a dedicated outlet and I'll bet they mean that.

This is the model I got - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000MVN1M6 - $75 total with tax (free ship). I R happy.

I'll give it a road test tonight when I reheat the risotto and asparagus and chicken marsalla for dinner.

Cool! I had friends in college who had a hot plate. Something smaller but it was a nice thing to have. Ramen noodles are made quickly with a hot plate. hehe

Woo Hoo!!! You got one. I hope you love the bugger as much as I do mine. Farberware has a relatively inexpensive set of stainless steel pots that are induction compatible. Set of 12 for $99 at Bed Bath & Beyond. Enjoy.

Do take the “dedicated outlet” part seriously.

In our current kitchen setup, we now have our microwave and toaster plugged into visually separate outlets, but ones which actually run off of the same circuit. If you run them simultaneously for more than about twenty seconds, they trip the circuit breaker. [Hey, at least we don't have fuses to blow = $.]

I would guess that your new baby here soaks about as much power as a nuke, so “you gotta keep 'em separated”.
