It's Mom Story Time Again
Jul. 29th, 2003 04:53 pmToday's big news is that Sally-Who-Mumbles is moving in down the hall from Mom!! Sally-Who-Mumbles has been living in one of the independant living houses but "she's just too old" to do that any more according to Mom who knows.
She heard from Libba who talks to Carl who dates Sally-Who's-Always-Late who is good friends with Sally-Who-Mumbles that the whole moving out of house into apartment thing was just horrible to arrange.
Finally Mom left a voice mail for Sally-Who-Mumbles that she should call Polly (who's Mom used to live next door to Sally-Who-Mumbles). Polly is the wonderful woman who helped me arrange Mom's 80'th birthday party last Feb. Polly can do anything and has the patience of a saint but who is also great good fun.
So the daughter of Sally-Who-Mumbles hired Polly to help and ever since then, everything has been just smooth as silk.
Just so you know, I have actually met Sally-Who-Mumbles and I'm pretty sure that her speech problem is directly related to Mom's hearing aids. However, the two times were were supposed to meet Sally-Who-Is-Always-Late for dinner, she was, in fact, late.
Whenever I go visit her, Mom invariably will spend at least some amount of time in a conversation that is half a recital of things she has heard about others from others and the other half a decrying about the amount of gossip 'that goes on in this place!'
But, for now, all is fine. Mom's gone to the bar and then dinner to see if she can find out more about the Sally-Who-Mumbles move-in saga. Stay tuned.

I'd love to be the barmaid there! Can you imagine the things she must hear. Or one of the servers in the dining room? he he he
And the stories I hear from my little neighbor about the Tuesday afternoon bridge club. They all dress to the nines, bedecked in their best jewels.
I'll be waiting for the next chapter
PS hope you're cool enough up there..I think it's warmer up there than down here in Southern California tonight

Date: 2003-07-29 05:36 pm (UTC)The funny part about the barmaid (who is actually a guy) is that he doesn't get much gossip (except from my Mom) because he's the 'help'. Remember, this is The South. One does not discuss such matters with the help. But the waiters and waitresses in the dining room (those with good ears) get those ears filled eavesdropping... And they are fun people who share tidbits with me when I'm there.
