I got home last night after meeting my friends for dinner to find the baseball game half way done and tied at 0. The rest of the game was really really good so I only missed the very boring parts. And... we won!

I also watched the riots in Vancouver just where we were not a month ago and spitting distance from where [livejournal.com profile] jawnbc actually lives! I do hope he did not go out to play last night! Very horrible to watch that. Canadians, particularly, should know better!

Today has been work work work - I got an especially early start because I'm bugging out at 2 for Marci's class and the gym and then home to shower and dress for dinner. I thought I had transportation to the Herbfarm all figured out, but apparently not. So I need to leave extra early and drive to the hotel to meet the group. There is no parking near the hotel and I know from last night, that that's going to be a problem, hence the leaving early. No biggie. It will all work out and be fine and be delicious.

I was digging into my bag o' bags yesterday to find one to suit my needs and pulled out one from Stew Leonards. Stew Leonards is a grocery store/hilarious experience. When I lived in Norwalk, CT, it was my closest grocery shop and always a hoot. Wonder if [livejournal.com profile] drood will start shopping there now. I think they are pretty close to the Norwalk store. Anyway... A receipt fell out of the bag. On 3/15/1985, I bought beef salami for $1.99. Paid cash.

Just when I think I've got my stuff under control, out pops clear evidence that I have some hoarder left in me.

I'm particularly susceptible to Stuff to Put Stuff In. I have no inner bag lady - it's all outer.

Time to get back to work.

Why should Canadians know better? What makes us any different from anyone else? You have troublemakers there, and we have troublemakers here. Troublemakers aren't limited to one country or nationality. I haven't seen anyone reporting on the riots that happened in Boston when their team won -- turning over buses and setting them on fire. No, everyone's picking on the people in Vancouver.

Riots associated with hockey have a long, long history in this country. Way back in 1955 they had the Richard Riot. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Riot)

Then there was the pre-Olympic riot in Vancouver, and the G20 riots in Toronto last summer. So we have plenty of riots, and I don't know why people think we're so different from anyone else.

I'm a little surprised that you're offended for not being expected to be brutish and uncultured. In America we have quite the opposite problem; we're expected to be brutish and stupid by default, so when someone doesn't just assume we're idiots it's quite refreshing.

I was at a friend's watching and went home after the second period. Canucks had nothing in the tank. Congrats Boston: don't like your style, but you were the better team this final series.

None of the crap came as far down the hill as our place. But [livejournal.com profile] querrelle was out in Richmond (near the airport) having dinner with friends. By the time they left the police had locked down downtown: nobody in, everybody who didn't live here out.

He had to route 10km out of his way to get home via the only bridge open--NORTH of downtown.

I don't care if it fits historically--it's bullshit and I'm ashamed.
