I worked at IBM for 15 years in two separate stretches. In the early 70's, I was the first female sales rep hired in Greenville, SC (just after the first African American). I left after a couple of years and then went back to work for them in the 80's in marketing. It was a wonderful place to learn about business, about people, and about me.

IBM does a lot of classy things but this video may be the classiest ever.

The mark used to be being conservatively dressed. IBM is one of two companies in my early computer repair days which I refused to work for, IBM because they told me I would have to wear a tie at all times, including while repairing extremely dangerous high speed band printers. Lanier wanted me to get rid of my beard.

Absolutely amazing! I arrived on the scene with the IBM 1401, although I did get to see one of the last Stretch machines still in production. Since then, I've been fortunate to work with nearly every piece of hardware IBM has produced. They are truly and American icon!

As a child of IBM - my dad worked there from the time I was 2 until I was in my 30s - this actually made me tear up. I learned to write on used punch cards. He was always proud to work for IBM and I can see why.

I've never forgotten coming into the study once and watching him write a program in binary. It almost feels like a memory of watching monks hand illustrate a Bible.

You could say I cut my teeth on a 360. Literally.

IBM and I are tied together at so many points in my life I've lost count. My dad retired from there after 25 years. I worked there (3 times, so far), my sister worked there, my brother in law worked there... and then there's all the IBM hardware and software I've used/owned/touched.

I still have the Pacific IBM Employees Credit Union account we opened when I was 8. :)
