I have two TiVos both series 2 - so they are capable of HD if they have the cable card installed. One does. One doesn't.

I called tonight to find out how much my bill will increase if I got a card for the other TiVo. I am told $1.50 only. I kind of believe that since that's what the other one costs me a month.

What I don't believe is that the service center will have them and that I can just go pick one up. I am pretty sure, when I get there, they will not have any and/or tell me they are not qualified for customer pick up. The only service center we have left is way the hell up north of town.

The Comcast phone people tell me there is zero way of determining whether or not they will actually have any without going there. "They *should* have them. They probably will." Oh yeah.

Alternatively, I can wait a week or more and pay out the nose from some dude with a clipboard and tool belt to deliver one to me.

They are about the size of a credit card. It would not cost more than a first class stamp to pop one in the mail. But, oh no... that's not an option at all...

I think I'll truck up there mid-day Wednesday and see if they are wrong or right. I'm going to be fairly unhappy if I get all the way up there to discover that I have to wait for more that a week and pay out the nose for the tool belt dude...

All of the above are if I don't die of kidney failure before then. I have a pain - intermittent but attacking me all day - about where I think my left kidney is. It's not a killer pain and it could be a strain. In fact it could be from straining to stay balanced on that segway yesterday. Or it could be fatal kidney disease. I'm thinking time will tell.

Almost sounds just as easy for me to "try" and pick one up at my local Comcast place and deliver it either Thursday or Saturday when I'm in your neighborhood for the Sounders match.

Speaking from experience, and I don't want to mislead you, but I've had to pick them up four or five times from 94th, and they were never out of them.

Oh! I'd love to eat my words and be oh so wrong...

4 or 5 times?! You sellin' 'em on the street?

Different boxes, different locations. Used to have two single-port cards in an older box.

Thanks for the info. I'm already hopeful now!

94th? The only center I see is the one on Stone Way at 126th.

They've moved north from 94th off Aurora.

Does the so-called service center not have a phone number you can call to ask someone who is physically there if they have one and can put their grubby mitts on it to hold for you?

Good luck. When I got my card about 3 years ago, the card was free, but had to be delivered and installed by their totally incompetent minion for $150. Took him 20 minutes to do a job you, I and any 8-year-old could do in 20 seconds.

From your posting, it looks like they have changed their policy. Or maybe the SEA branch has different rules than the one in Silly Valley.

not to get on a long medical discussion but as I told you earlier I had a similar pain where my kidneys are and wondered... bottom line is that there are a bunch of other symptoms that would be very evident if it were a kidney issue... doesn't make it any less comfortable but stretching and time seemed to do it for me

Next step, then, is to determine at what hours that Krispy Kreme's "HOT NOW" light is on! (The one two hours from me is 6-11am and 6-11pm, but the hours vary.) It's simply not worth stopping in any other time.

Wow, that KK recipe for 3 day old donuts sounds delish! Unfortunately, KK donuts make me sick to my stomach. I can, however, tolerate Dunkin's with no problem at all. Gotta keep that recipe for future use.
