What price my physical safety?

susandennisOutside of my gym shoes, my next three favorite pair of shoes are all frightening. Two pair are very similar sandals which have a very thick cushy sole. I was wearing them for falls 1 and 2. I am afraid to wear them now.
But, do i want to toss out three otherwise perfectly fine shoes? If I hadn't managed fall number 3 while barefoot, I might just. But after the barefoot fall, it's kind of hard to blame the shoes entirely.
My one leg is still in a state that if I were to fall on it again, I'd truly shoot myself. It hurt so much after fall number 3 that I vowed, I'd do whatever it took to never fall again.
Toss out my good shoes?
I wore a pair of them around today - some walking slowly but mainly in and out of the car. I felt fairly stable. enough to give them another try. But, I am being cautious. The minute I feel not stable, out they go.
(I do wear my gym shoes a good bit but they are hot and putting them on with socks and laces is annoying.)

It's bordering on too hot for me, but I'm hoping by the time I go out again, it will have cooled off a might and tomorrow is supposed to be gray and cloudy with a little rain and not hot.

Scott is playing with his new netbook and with the Kindle that his wife bought. Julie asked to be let off in the middle of town so she could 'have a wonder' on her own. Scott and I came back to my house.
The current plan is to leave here (home) in about an hour and a half and swing by the library to pick up my DVD on hold. Then go by and get Julie at the hotel where she will have wandered back to by then, and go to dinner.
