sleeping porch

My idea was to keep the ottoman an ottoman until I wanted to sleep on it and then fold it out to the bed. But it turned out to be too fiddly. When I'm too hot to sleep, I am sure as hell too hot to be fucking with furniture.

So, I made an executive decision. For the two months of hot here, it will be set up as a bed on the terrace. I can turn off the AC and go sleep in the cool. I don't think we ever have a night too warm to sleep outside.

A long time ago, I was complaining about my hoarding and mentioned having a bunch of retired shower curtains. I remember [livejournal.com profile] fj popped in to ask why in the hell I would hang on to retired shower curtains. As I recall, I had a lame list of reasons. Now I have a good one. They make a perfect (and perfectly lovely) bed protector for your outside bed!! There's a lot of grime out there that is really dust. I can just periodically flap it off this coverlet. And if it gets too bad, I can wash it.

I'm quite pleased with this arrangement. It's my kind of camping adventure!!

I use retired shower curtains as drop cloths for painting.

And as a special bonus, we get a chairful of bears in this shot.

That's interesting. I received a mail notification last night that a friend had given me a Google+ invitation, but I haven't done anything with/about it yet.

That looks kind of fun. I've always wanted to sleep out on our balcony during the summer but couldn't relax out there knowing a possum might drop on me at any time.

Great idea and even better that you really do what you're talking about. :-) Personally I'd only miss a flower pot nearby....

What a cool idea! I wish our porch in our first apartment had had enough room to do that. Fun!

Don't you love it, when justification for our odd little obsessions happens along?

Sleep Sweet, Susan.
