I started my period when I was 12. I was so regular that the atomic clock in Denver used me for QA. And it was painless. 2/3 days max. Nothing heavy, mild cramps if any. Until about 51. Then I'd skip several months and think - ahhhh, I'm done. But no. I quit buying giant boxes of Tampax and went for the 10 thinking each box was my last. Finally last year, it stopped. Whew. I was done.

Until last month. WTF? I was 12 again. And now today again.

It's hard to complain. I've had no hot flashes. I've always been a wild and crazy bitch so there was no detectable attitude change. I didn't do the 'hormone, no hormone' debate because there was no need. I mean pretty much the whole menapause thing has been a nothing burger in my case.

So, I'll just buy another box of 10 Tampax and count my blessings.

Do you still get a yearly check-up of womanly matters?

Hmm. Well. It just seems unusual to still have menses at your age, and I am big on having everything checked out.

Achh...I began mine at 14 ..I am now 48. There is NO bloody (excuse the pun) sign of them ever stopping :( I am so looking forward to my 50s :)

Every month ..7 days ...torrential periods (they got worse after being sterilized at age 39) , awful PMT , womb ache. They are slightly more irregular , this time for example 21 days between and two months ago I had a 41 day interim ...

Ive had enuff :(

I gave up on the 10 pack last month...gave in and have the 40 again, and I'm 50.

I guess this must be how those "late in life, accident babies happen?" Yikes, that would be awful at my age.

12?

HAH! I was 11 when I started and I went into the bathroom, dug out Mom's stash of Tampax and inserted. Later that evening Mother had a fit! She went on and on how I was now ruined for my husband -- did I understand that I was ruined? I had NO CLUE what the hell she meant by ruined but I nodded my head.

I have been going through the on again off again menopause roller coaster. Just when I think it has kicked in I start with the other stuff and run out and buy more tampax and midol.

You have my sympathy.

Me neither. I went through it all without a blip. I wouldn't have used fake hormones even if I'd had symptoms. It irritates me the way the commercials make it sound like we all go through hell during menopause. Many of us do not, and most of the world does not.

I'm having the weirdness, after thinking it was all over. Took HRT, quit, got flashes again. Got HRT again, stopped again and started bleeding again. Now stopped bleeding, but am having hot flashes again. Am looking forward to this stabilizing and finally being OVER. At least when I started bleeding again, I got to borrow the tampons from my daughter (payback time, kid!).

You'll be pleased to know that men have their own version of PMS, entitled DSB.

Deadly
Sperm
Buildup

Contrary to popular belief, DSP is not merely not "gitten sum" action. DSB is a specific syndrome suffered by men with spouse/partners/lovers/wotevas, with whom they sleep but with whom they infrequently and inconsistently get it on.

It's the proximity of a warm, inviting bod--without the "you know"--that leads to mood swings, night sweats, cramps and general malaise. Masturbation, while a stop-gap measure, provides only short-term relief.

Oh, my sister had hideous PMS, only assuaged by frequent pregnancy. By the time she had kid #7, no more PMS. Or sanity.
