I must be coated with fuck-me-over laminate.

Here I sit, once again, waiting for someone to come deliver the service they agreed to provide and it's now half 45 minutes passed the time they agreed to provide it.

This time it's Dinah, the painter. Since she was here last week, I sent her a couple of emails - one she requested and one reminding her to bring her insurance papers. I got no response but I just chocked it up to bad email manners. She said she'd be here about 9. It's now 9:35. No calls, no email, no text.

Why can't people do what they say they are going to do? Do they just tell me they will to get out of the conversation? Do they do this with everyone or just me? Does everyone think this is ok?

I will call her at 10. I will listen to the long, involved excuse for why she's not coming or coming late. I will be pissed. I thought I was being nice to pay her in cash in full prior to getting the work done. Apparently, I was just being a sucker.

fuck.

9:50 she arrives. Paint stuff unloaded. She's gone to park. Now I have to get over my pissed or this long day will be even longer.

I soooo feel your pain. I used to be a contractor, and it was amazing to me how badly some people treated me, while others were wonderful. Then when I had work done on our house - a bathroom floor retiled - and I got a taste of how some contractors act. The first day, once the guy had all his shit into the house and he'd started work, I asked if he needed me to stay around. "Oh no", he said, "You can go shoppin' or whatever you want to do." As I had a job to go to, I left. The following day, he didn't show and didn't show. Finally, I called the office. They told me he would be late, as he had to go to another job where his work was impeding the process of a new-build. Okay, I could dig it, but that meant I couldn't go to my job (I wasn't about to just leave my house for him to come in whenever). When I asked why I wasn't told this would be the case, the office manager said Danny had told me the day before as he left. That's really odd, I observed, as I wasn't HERE when he left! They never stopped maintaining their position, they kept telling me how HONEST Danny was, and I was flamin' pissed. It took me a while to get used to the idea that you really can't count on anybody any more. Period.

That kind of stuff isn't okay with me either. When I was a contractor, I would call my customer if I suspected I would be late. I was mortified if they had to call me. But I just figure I'm a freak. :-/

I hope when she's done painting you tell her you don't appreciate her lateness, her lack of communication that she would be late or her complete disregard for common courtesy to apologize. And due to her actions you will be unable to refer any business to her. That may not help with how you were treated but I bet she changes her behavior for other customers.
