At Safeco field (and the Kingdome before that and even Spring Training in Arizona) there is a vendor who sells peanuts and thrills the crowds with every game. His name was Rick and he sold delicious, warm peanuts.

But, he'd throw them from 3 seconds over, and he'd never miss. Even if you were the worst catcher in the world. Sometimes you'd be halfway through eating them before he got to you to collect the money. He so clearly loved what he did and loved everyone in the stands from the tiny babies to the very large drunks.

The last time I was at a game was with my Kiwi friends. We decided we wanted peanuts but I made us wait until Rick got to our section. It was so worth the wait. He made paying triple the street price for a bag of peanuts so worth it.

He died last night. A brain aneurysm. Not a bad way to go, actually. He will be so missed. by me and hoards of others.

And the Mariners are actually ahead in their afternoon game against the Yankees in the 6th inning. How every humiliating for the Yankees.

I can't stop spending money. My last splurge for a while will be bifocals. I love my computer glasses but I continually have them off and on all day and night long. I called my eye place today and she is going to fix me up. i"m sure it's going to cost a fortune but I can't take it with me...

---

Lunch was delicious but now it's time to get back to work...

It is your eyes girl! You don't go Scottish on them. (I can say that cuz I am of Scottish heritage) Anyway, graduated bifocals can still be very attractive and in the long run are worth every last cent.

Good luck and post a pic of what you wound up with. :)
