I've only looked twice today but just now I did a check and it appears that the money I have socked away in investments has, today, been reduced by a tidy little 6%. Not chump change. There is nothing I can do about it so I'm just going to try and Scarlett O'Hara the deal... fiddle dee dee tomorrow is another day.

---

In good news my DVD of Paul, the movie, will be here tomorrow. I've never bought a DVD of a movie before. I'm quite excited.

---

Nothing big is on tap for this week. My new bifocals should be in by Thursday. Work is steady and plentiful. The Mariners are on the road and playing games in more eastern timezones so I have my evenings free to clean up TiVo.

Really except for the losing a truckload of money, things are good. aurgh!

“I've never bought a DVD of a movie before.”

I have, and I continue to recommend it. I also still buy music in compact disc format, and read comics that have been printed on paper. There's something comforting for me about interacting with a work of art that is as physically real as I am myself... just like I still prefer drawing in hardcopy too, I guess. Keeps it real!

If you're going to call me a Luddite, I shall have to put on my Slightly Larger Glasses.

Keep in mind you didn't lose any money today unless you sold. I view the low market as an opportunity, so I just put $$$ in my stock account to buy while prices are low. :-)

Did we talk about me coming to watch this movie with you once you got it? I can't remember. If so, Becca visits this weekend so I won't be available until the following weekend, and perhaps you don't want to wait that long. Then again, perhaps you won't mind watching it a second and third time in rapid succession.

Also, I so want to see your poster!

Isn't your brother taking off with your car? Or is that during the week?

I guess Labor Day Weekend will have to do!

I have a brilliant idea!

How about on, say, Sunday, September 4, we meet at the new sushi joint on Broadway for lunch, let's say noon? After which I can bus with you back to your place (we can catch the #49 there, which turns into the #7 and goes right to King Street Station) and watch the movie! What do you think?

In other, possibly nearby news, I keep wondering if you would have any interest in the movie The Debt (http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/focus_features/thedebt/). It's not a comedy like RED was, but it still features Helen Mirren being kind of badass, so I thought you might be. If so, I do have it on my calendar for Thursday evening September 1 but can switch it to Saturday the 3rd if you prefer -- it would mean two days of Matthew in a row, though!
