Today turned out a little differently than it looked this morning. I ended up with 5 hours of work which was good and fine.

I did manage to cobble together a simple sleeve for my tablet. I was too lazy to get out my sewing machine so I used fabric glue and iron on fusing. Worked fine.

It was actually a little chilly when I went out this morning. Of course I had on the thinnest t-shirt but it did feel good. At 11 a.m. it was still very very foggy. Nice. The sun came out just after noon but I don't think it ever got as hot as they said it would.

Ann just came down with her Nook. They did, in fact, get schooled at Barnes and Noble. 'But she talked way too fast.' It's a process. One problem she's having is how to tap the screen. She was using her fingernail at first and then was pressing instead of tapping. We practiced a bunch. And we changed font and font size and made sure find and do it herself.

The store fixed her up with an account and she bought two books. Both Michael Connelly who happens to be one of my favorite authors. I really wish I was like Ann and had all his books ahead of me. The one she has started has a surprise for her - there are two characters, introduced towards the middle, who are named after people she knows. J.B. Dickey and Bill Farley are the owner and the owner emeritus of the mystery bookshop a few blocks from here. If memory serves, they are low life petty crooks in the book.

The first time I read the book, I got to that part on a Saturday afternoon and it gave me reader's whiplash. I picked up the phone and called J.B. As soon as he heard my voice, he said 'I wondered how long it would take you to get to that part of the story!' It cracked me up. Turns out Connelly did it as a thank you for their support at their store.

Anyway, Ann will be tickled.

Just as I typed that, she came back - her Nook was stuck. She said she was trying to page through to find her spot and it just hung up. I powered it down and powered it back up and showed her how to find a chapter list and off she went happily.

Tonight is another Mariner game - they are playing Boston. Usually they beat Boston here in Seattle. Poor Boston. It's humiliating for them. At least the Mariners are beyond being humiliated.

It IS a Lackey game. Anything could happen, like a spectacular pile of fail on our part. He's been getting better but between him and Wakefield I'm going to be either bald or grey by the end of the season. I don't know if Bedard (now known as BedAHD since he's with Boston) is slated to pitch against his former team while we're there. I lose track of some of the finer details when the boys hit the road.

By the time I got to see this, of course, Susan's hopes had long since been dashed, despite Lackey not being up to his recent standard.

Bedard is not pitching in this series; he pitched in Minnesota on Tuesday, and is scheduled to pitch against Tampa Bay in Boston next Tuesday, although they haven't decided whether he's pitching the afternoon game (to which we have tickets) or the evening game.

These West Coast night games are not good for my sleep schedule.

I will admit to being curious about the fabric glue - I've never heard of it before. :)
