Neighbor Ann just came in saying she needed a friendly face. Apparently Ron, who's first day after surgery was great, had a horrible second day and not real great third day. Now they are talking about putting him in an interim care facility for a while before he comes home. She's so very scared. She's not good at revealing her own vulnerability and it's one of the things I like about her but she was having a hard time holding back tears while telling me.

Also she needed me to show her how to get to the second part of her Netflix DVD. She has no idea how to run the DVD player and their set up is so convoluted that the instructions he wrote down for her involve 2 remotes, 12 steps and getting up and going to the TV for two of the steps. Holy crapoly.

But, I was able to show her how to get to part 2.

Then I told her about the Smart Car and she said 'oh I'll go with you to test drive!!'. I said 'no, you won't prevent me from buying one.' She agreed 'oh, now, I think you should get one!'...

I need someone to go with me who will not let me buy one. It's sure not Ann. 'They are cute and Sarah and Niles love theirs and you never travel or spend money [er all those computers you see in the house... I spend a little...] You would really enjoy one, I know you would.'

She's an enabler. But, at least now she can watch the rest of her DVD.

Your current car isn't even properly broken in yet.

My opinion of the Smart Car is biased. I *seriously* looked at one when gas was $4 and up here. But, at least then, the best mileage it claimed was 35mpg...and I can get 30mpg in my nice roomy fun convertible that's already paid for. I'm not willing to take on payments and squeeze myself in to a rolling tuna can just for 5mpg.

I saw your subject line and immediately thought, Aren't I mean enough? But then I read your entry and . . . nope. If I went on a test drive of a smart car with you I'd probably love it nearly as much as you would.

My bestie has a Smart and loves it. :)

Also, I am amused that I have put as many miles on my car since last November as you have on your car period. :)

My friend's brother had one and the dealer had it for weeks at a time. Two transmissions and a bunch of other things in one year. Eventually they accepted it back as a lemon.

Do you want me to be horrid about them? I can come up with something.

It would be a terrible financial decision. A total waste of money. You can park them nose in where parallel parking is required. Oops. I slipped.

I think the Smart Car is the cutest thing on the road . . . it is so adorable--I call it a "Peanut Car" cause it looks like a little peanut. But, I know nothing about them other than their cuteness.

If I was going to get a little car, I'd love a Mini Cooper.

Hope everything goes well with Ron and Ann. That's so good that they have you as a friend and neighbor.

Safety. Accidents. If you ever should have an accident, then things aren't looking too good for you... But of course you don't have any accidents..... ;-)

Aww poor Ann, I'm glad you're there for her.

As far as the car, it's a ridiculous idea, Your current one works fine is reliable and comfortable. A new shiny car would attract too much attention and be a target for theft. And you know, if its like the new Bugs with the interior sizing, it'd make you feel fat. (Did that help?)
