Fish gotta swim...
Aug. 31st, 2011 02:39 pmBut, I'm not sure I do. However, I did go to one of the Seattle pools today to check on exercise swim class. I'm not convinced yet but I may give it a go. They way it shakes out, it's a pay as you go deal and go as often or as little as you like.
There are no pools nearby or really even convenient. The one I went to today is about as far and as inconvenient as the other one. That's likely going to be the showstopper of the project.
But, I might just try it anyway, since I do have some time available coming up here. Maybe. Wouldn't kill me. Would be nice to get some non-sweaty exercise and different. And, the one pool is right across the street from a fine fine fried chicken place.
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are Senior Water Exercise and Tuesdays and Thursdays are Aqua Jog (which you do, apparently, in the deep end with some kind of flotation device).
Classes are from 12-1.

There is not a lot of work to do today. Mainly finishing up stuff. Barely 8 hours. I wonder what tomorrow is going to be like.
On Friday, I'm going out of town!! Yes. Road Trip.
I'm taking myself to the Evergreen State Fair which is in Monroe, WA which is somewhere east of here, I think. Google knows where it is. And I can tell Google to send me via back roads which I think will be more interesting.
I have a fair map all printed out and ready. I want to see quilts. And baby animals. And vegetable mosaics and I want to eat fair food. Oh and a guy on Google+ said the wood working show was a can't miss.
I'm quite jazzed about the whole thing, actually.
I think I'll get out my fair map and make a plan.

Date: 2011-09-01 03:24 am (UTC)My advice is to plan to be there when it opens (10, I think?) parking is best, and few children are there. They all seem to throng after lunch - about 1 is peak time, not unlike a shopping mall.
If you get a route that takes you via Hwy 522, it meets up with Hwy 2 at it's main junction - hang a right, and then an immediate right and, follow signs for Blue Gate parking - that will put you at the end/side of the fair with most of the stuff you're looking for. MOST people take the I5 -> Everett-> Hwy 2 route, and I don't recommend it, it backs up quickly and you're likely forced to the big, main red parking lot, and you'll have to park far away and walk a lot.
Anyway.. from 522, turn right onto Hwy 2, then right at the feed store. You'll pass by oodles of green parking, keep going, follow signs to blue parking / (may also be AKA 'race track parking') It puts your entrance to the fair right at the bunnies, chickens and dogs, and not far from the quilts and 4H crafts. The red lot puts you by the rides, commercial buildings and horses and main show arena. I vote Blue! The woodcarving show is pretty awesome - if you like fish, it's right next to the Indian longhouse where they have salmon lunches grilling all day. Yum!
If you're up for an adventure after the fair, head to Duvall out of Monroe, there's little shops-o-crap you might enjoy downtown on the main drag (since you wandering through the Market?). You can turn from Duvall and head up and over Avondale road into Redmond, which goes to Woodinville - > 405 -> 520 and home.. just a thought. Going that way on a nice sunny day makes for great viewing of lots of trees and great views (and you'll be sortof in the country.. not the hot asphalt jungle of the city!)
Enjoy your day!
