I've been thinking about it forever and talking about it a while and finally, today, I did it. I went to a senior swim exercise class and it was outstanding!
It was about 20 women in the locker room. Mostly very old (all older than me). Mostly all my size (ample). All very communal. 20 old fat naked women together chit chatting while getting ready for their preswim shower. It was very cool. And they were very nice and welcoming to me.
In the pool we were joined by three old men and the class began. Everyone wore flotation belts (waist floaties for old people) and it was all kicks and arms. Then we got noodles and stood on them - and turns out I have even less balance in water than on land... and did crunches with them. Then we did stretches and then it was over.
1st good thing = no mirrors. Really, that's quite liberating. 2nd good thing = no sweating. When my face got sweaty, I just went under and swam around some.
It was really lots of fun and a very nice way to get all stretched and feeling good. At one point we played tag and swam hard and that was pretty tiring. The nice ladies, back in the locker room, predicted I'd sleep well tonight. They were very sweet.
The pool I went to was really far from home which actually turned out good because now the two I thought were far will turn out to be way closer. The one closest to me has some kind of water exercise class every day at noon. The other one has something at 11:15 Tuesday - Friday and one of those days is a balance class. (But this other one (Queen Anne) is closed for maintenance until the 19th).
I probably won't go again tomorrow since I have Marci's class t 2. But Friday, I will be absolutely fishing it again.
