Crap on a stick

susandennisThe hard drive on my work laptop gave up the ghost tonight. It's so dead. It's not even trying.
Looks like tomorrow morning it will be off to the boss's office for a new machine or drive and a rebuild from scratch. Sigh.
It could be worse. I pay for offline backup out of my own pocket (it's already saved my butt once and now looks like it's going to do it again). One project is dormant until monday and the other work can be easily picked up by a team member who's more up to speed than I am.
Actually, it looks like besides the PIA factor, they biggest sacrifice might be my swim class tomorrow.
It helps so much that so little of my work these days relies on any client software. So there is little tied right to my computer which makes the PIA factor far less of a factor than it used to be.
I'm going to pack my swimming stuff into the car, just in case.
