Yes, one of my LJ friends, British but spends a lot of time across the pond, also posted about it yesterday as they were there for it with friends ! ;-)
I have sent him a message as I'm assuming the entry is probably locked... I've given your name........ he hasn't posted since so I'm also assuming he's not online at the mo....
I used to live there for 3 years when I was married. (39 years ago) The Hot Air Balloon Festival is a breath taking site, oh so beautiful, and Albuquerque is a fun place to visit actually. You actually get to the field about 4:00AM, it's very cold but ohhh something to see. Hey Matthew, Gabe actually started Kindergarden there before we moved back to Seattle.
oh, Wow! I was wondering if I 'knew' anyone who had ever seen it. This must be Janine, right? Gabe's mother? Fun! I've never been to Albuquerque. Sounds like that's going to have to change.
A friend used to live in New Mexico and she gave me a poster from the Festival that I think came from the '80's. It's lovely, and makes one want to go there. I had the poster on my online store, but as it's currently on hold you probably couldn't see it--although you're welcome to try. I'll try to track down the photos I took of it and send you one, if you'd like.
sorry yes, it's me, Janine, I usually write it at the bottom of my comments, but I forgot this time. After reading about you wanting to go, it got me thinking about the festival, so I went on-line to look at this years balloons. So colorful, It's a beautiful way to welcome in the sunrise!!
You know... it was not until JUST this minute that I connected the Janine who sometimes leaves fun comments in my journal to the Janine that Matthew tells me is Gabe's mother. DOH!!!
I'm slow but I get there. hi, Janine!!
And yes, aren't they just beautiful. There is a balloon festival somewhere not terribly far from here. (wenachee?) I need to dig into that - maybe that would be a nice mini trip.
Yes, we are one in the same. Happy balloon hunting. I have always wanted to go to the Walla Walla festival in the spring. To combine my love of wine tasting in Walla Walla with the balloon festival would be so fun. Just have never made it over during that time of the year.
