A new day - a better day
Oct. 13th, 2011 09:26 amToday I will not make any stupid mistakes. I'm due a day off from them. I really am. So I'm choosing today. Should be easy cause I don't think there will be much work coming my way so I could win with simple lack of opportunity but I'll take it.
---
Years ago I traveled all the time. My supply of tiny shampoo bottles and itty bitty soaps was endless. So endless that long after I landed - a couple of years ago actually, I still had two large drawers full. I read that one of the homeless shelters wanted them and I carted them all down there and was delighted with the drawer space.
Now I want them back and I can't remember what shelter I took them to. Ha.
I want them to take to the pool. The travel sizes in the drug store are too big and too expensive. Especially when you consider that about every second time, I walk off and forget to take them with me. Sigh. i turned this house upside down this morning looking for little shampoo bottles or something I could turn into one. Nada. Sigh. I found a small bottle of conditioner and emptied it out and filled it with shampoo. I figure that will last me until Friday or, if I'm lucky Saturday.
Maybe I should see if I can cut a deal with a hotel.
---
My replacement phone is still in the wind. It was supposed to be here Tuesday/Wednesday. This morning I sent an email to the guy asking oh so politely where the fuck it was. Waiting to hear now...
---
I did get a giant package of all kinds of documents and contracts and info from the refinance. It was really far more intelligible than I remember any mortgage stuff ever being. It came via UPS Document service in a cardboard envelope with RECYCLE written all over it. The standout piece of paper in the packet is yellow and in bold letters it says RECYCLE and it explains that after you sign everything, put it back into that cardboard envelope and put the attached prepaid sticker on it and hand it back to UPS. Pretty cool, I thought.
BUT, even cooler is that via email, I'd already taken care of all of it. I sent a note last night to the mortgage guy asking what, if anything, he needed from the packet and he responded that all he needed was my consent to proceed (via email was fine) and he'd contact the appraiser. So we are a go. The papers say closing in January but that may be an estimate. Mortgage guy said 30-45 days, I think. Doesn't matter.
I continue to be amazed at how straightforward and smart this whole process is. I love the future.

The spot cleaning of my chair was a total success. Blue Magic Upholstery Stain and Spot Lifter. Yeah!
---
This is going to be a good day. I declare it.

I actually grab the fresh bottles put in hotel rooms every evening, and keep using the old ones. Next day? New fresh ones. I, too, have an endless supply, even after giving quite a bit away. But, then, I still travel several times a year.
The drugstore sells travel sizes of the brands you use, for a premium price, but they also sell little empty plastic travel containers that you can fill from the full-size containers. Buy those. Keep one set in your pool bag, one in your pool locker if you have one, and a backup in the car.

Date: 2011-10-13 04:56 pm (UTC)The few times I have stayed in hotels since I quit traveling, I've resisted the urge to collect the little bottles cause I had no use for them. Now I do. And YES on CES. And the MGM Grand has Grand little bottles!
