Breakfast Sandwich - Yum...
Oct. 21st, 2011 04:08 pmJimmy Dean sausage is kind of hard to find here sometimes so I was not hopeful... But I truly scored. They had a bag of cooked sausage patties that were the perfect size so I got reinspired. And here's what I did:

Muffin pan - Pammed up. And then an egg into each cup. Then I scrambled the eggs a little and added salt and pepper. Then I plopped in a sausage and covered each with shredded cheddar cheese.
I toasted the english muffins and then popped the muffin tin in at 375 for 25 minutes.
Then I let them cool, popped them out and slapped each in between two english muffin halves and wrapped them in waxed paper and put them in the freezer. Next week is breakfasted!

Plus, no mess. And the only thing to clean is the muffin thing and a fork. Bonus points in my book.
I could have taken a photo of each step but I am lazy.

Date: 2011-10-22 01:42 am (UTC)Tip. I learned the hard way that when it's time to eat them, do NOT nuke them too long. In my microwave, about 50 seconds seems perfect for ones taken from the fridge (not the freezer... I should experiment with how to make them edible right from the freezer. hmmmm)

Date: 2011-10-22 01:43 am (UTC)Why are they called English muffins? I have never seen them there, they always seem like s totally American thing

Date: 2011-10-22 03:51 am (UTC)Re: wax paper
Date: 2011-10-22 03:58 am (UTC)I unwrap it and nuke it on a plate with the waxed paper covering the sandwich and the plate together.
But, you know, probably plastic wrap would do exactly the same thing.
Oh and the the bread DOES get tough if you nuke it for too long so be sure and don't. Mine are taking about 50 seconds out of the fridge to hot.
I did one for 90 and one of the bread halves was a bit like shoe leather!

Oh - when you take them out of the freezer, I'm assuming you don't have an egg/cheese/sausage-sicle - how long do you warm them up? Oven? Microwave?

Date: 2011-10-23 11:32 pm (UTC)BUT if you wanted it super crispy, the best way would be to nuke the egg part and toast the muffin then assemble and eat!
