I left home this morning about 7:45 and now I'm home again and it's close to 5. It was a fun, eventful day.

First there was swim class which was excellent and fun. Then I swung by and picked up [livejournal.com profile] machupicchu and we headed to my house. They allowed people to actually walk on the viaduct today and we were there... in the rain... Matthew had on his fancy new rain boots. So he did the big puddles....

And yeah, he's cute but...he had competition...

After we walked all over the viaduct - which was really very fun - we headed off to Georgetown for brunch. I have long wanted to try Smarty Pants so that's where we went. It was not bad but not some place I need to go back to. I was not ready to go home after but Matthew was going to a movie so I took him home. He had his hand on the car door handle ready to get out - we were talking about his getting an iPhone now or later and he mentioned how getting to the Apple store was such a pain in the butt and I allowed as how we could go now...

We even went once around the block to give him time to decide if he really wanted to buy one today. I talked him into it. And off we went. Across the parking lot from the Apple Store is a new Microsoft Store and they had the parking lot commandeered for a concert. That plus the general mayhem that is the University Village Shopping Center packed the joint and finding a parking place was an adventure. But we finally created one just the right size for my adorable car.

The Apple store was packed and a sign in the front of the store implied there were no iPhone (new ones) available - you had to order one today for pick up tomorrow. Matthew bailed. We were planning to leave but I had to pee. When we met up again after the bathroom visit, I told him I'd bring him back tomorrow for pick up if he wanted to order one. So back to the Apple Store where we learned they had plenty for take home sale today. (The sign remains a mystery.)

We stood in line for about an hour and finally got our person who treated us like he had waited all week for us to come in. I may not have the kind of whatever it takes to use and love Apple products but I sure do love their store service. So very impressive.

We got the phone. I dropped him off at his house and now I'm home.

About 50,000 fans are expected to a football game across the street tonight - half of them, I think, are in the parking lot grilling up spare tires - at least that's what it smells like in my living room. Sharing the neighborhood with two large athletic stadiums is always fun and interesting.

Betty and Travis think it's dinner time. I should send them out for some grilled tire.
