Inaccurate use of language irritates me too. The one that I hear on the television frequently is "could of" when they mean "could have". I have even heard the news anchorman say this.

I like to give them the benefit of the doubt, if they're speaking instead of writing, that they're saying "could've" rather than "could of."

(Also, Susan, I think you mean "whose." ;-)
