I walked the 3 blocks to Grand Central and ran out of breath at the first intersection. I panted and gasped the whole way there and the whole way back. I honestly don't think I could have gone further. That is not going to be good if it does not get fixed.

Halfway there, on the corner, is a guy who sells Real Change (the homeless newspaper). He's worked that corner for several years. If I pass, and he's there, I buy a paper from him. We've never exchanged more than a thankyou/yourwelcome. He has tons of regular customers and is one of the more famous Real Change vendors. I don't go by there very often any more and often when I do he's not there. But today he was there and I stopped to buy a paper. He looked right at me and said "Hey, I love your new Smart Car!! I see you tooling around here in it all the time and it always makes me smile!"

As one who is mostly feels invisible to others around her, I was amazed and shocked and delighted and flattered all at once. It was one of the coolest things that has happened to me in a long time.

It certainly more than made up for the news that Grand Central is discontinuing two of my favorite items and that I can't breathe for shit.

Net net, great little excursion and now I have lunch!

Shortness of breath and coughing for persons of our tender years can be symptoms of congestive heart failure or it's evil twin, diastolic heart dysfunction. I can't remember if you've talked about having a heart sonogram lately, but you might ask Cute Doctor if it's time to go deeper than trying to just treat the symptoms. {I am not a doctor, don't play one on TV, but I do have First Aid merit badge).
