Catching up

susandennisI got up earlier than usual so that I could get this one project finished off. The last bit I had to do turned out to take way less time than I thought so here I am at 9:30 and I'm all caught up with all of work and probably won't seem much of any more today! I'm ok with that. I can do with a day of mental catching up.
Last year, for Christmas, I gave myself a flower delivery every month. It was fun but not fun enough to repeat. Plus, I need to save my pennies for the living room changes.
This year, I'm giving myself a gift basket from my childhood bakery. Dewey's Bakery is still located in one of the first shopping centers in the country, on Stratford Road in Winston-Salem. I spent most of my allowance in that shopping center growing up.
My mother always joked that the only reason I got married was so I could get a wedding cake from Dewey's. hahah except she's really not wrong! I was not bright enough to realize that Dewey's would have been happy to bake me a wedding cake without my having to actually get married. Live and learn.
A lot of their fare is Moravian goodies - cookies, buns, coffee cake. All of it heaven. But their cream horns were nothing to sneeze at either. This basket has a sampling of my favorites and it arrives today. Yeah, Christmas will be early here. And delicious.
I think I'll take this luxury of unvied for time and do some organizing and some tidying up around here. I need to stop at the bank and the library. I think I'll do that on the way to the pool later.

Your Moravian goodie basket sounds like just the reward you need and deserve for all you've been through.

I will say that the whole experience has honestly made me far more grateful and aware of how great good breathing can be. It's silly but it's so true!
