Mom Report

I just talked to her... She's out of ICU and into a room with a phone. But she can't make long distance calls so she called Libba who called me. She couldn't talk really well because she said her mouth was dry. I asked her if they wouldn't give her something to drink and she said yes but she didn't want to drink anything. I think she's worried about fluid build up which has been a problem.

She can't turn the lights on or off and she said the room had been too hot but was cooling off. She is not a complainer so it must be pretty bad. I asked her if she hurt and she said not at all but she was really uncomfortable in that hospital bed. She's ok when she can lie flat but she can never get comfortable to read or watch TV.

It was really hard to understand her but it sounded like she needs someone there to look after her. I am so glad my brother will be there by mid-afternoon tomorrow.

But she said that they are going to let her go home on Saturday. So my brother will be there to commandeer all of that. Whew.

Anyway, I do feel relieved. Note to self: get her a calling card and make sure she knows how to use it and knows where it is.

The Mariners blew it again. You'd think they would want to win just to make me feel better, wouldn't you?? Geesh.

I am glad she is out of ICU. I hate hospital beds too. I am also glad that your brother is going. I do think someone needs to be there. It is hell being far away isn't it. I really feel for you.

I'm sure it was a relief just to be able to talk to her. And it sounds as if things are more or less under control, and indeed a very good thing that your borhter and sister-in-law will be there. I'm pulling for her, and for you.

The Mariners blew it again. You'd think they would want to win just to make me feel better, wouldn't you??

I hope you've noticed my self-restraint.

I actually have noticed your self-restraint and it's beginning to freak me out a little.

It didn't seem, well, seemly to gloat while you were worrying about your mother. And there's the whole tempting-fate thing.

I'm old enough now to know I'd get caught.

Yeah, sooner or later she's likely to see a newspaper.

Can't get any better than that. :)\

Sorry for not writing sooner. I've been reading, though.

I just wanted to wish your Mum a safe and speedy recovery from her operation. It's great to hear that she's doing better.

Love, hugs and best wishes, Taniwha (-:

I'm relieved to hear that your mom's health is improving. I was just thinking... your friends, all around the world... doing the "wave" for Mom. I'm in.

Good news!
